Motion Study

Task Description:

A study of human movement is conducted and applied to nature-inspired anthropomorphic characters. Group collaboration supports critical analysis, but each student must submit an individual pre-production development document.

Submission includes:

1. Character Design
– Detailed exploration of the design process
– Character must support expressive motion without limiting articulation or clarity

2. Dynamic Poses
– Minimum of 9 distinct character poses (e.g., joy, hunger, kicking)
– Each pose includes a volume sketch and silhouette
– Demonstrates physical capabilities and consistent proportions

3. Walk/Run Cycle
– 8 key poses illustrated from both sides for looping action
– Presented in storyboard format with a bridging action connected to one of the dynamic poses

4. Annotations
– Notes on how design affects motion, volume distortion, and weight distribution
– Evaluates silhouette readability and use of reference footage
