PROJECT 1: EXTERIOR AND LANDSCAPE DESIGN

Designing a building for a game, for my idea, I want to combine the common Malaysian terraced shop design with greenery accents to create a bakery.

I noticed that Malaysian shop houses typically have multiple floors, usually two, and the ground floor often features a corridor.

I also incorporated common Malaysian street signs, such as the blue road name sign with white text and the "No Entry" sign.

However, halfway through, I started doubting my design. I felt that the building I was designing looked a bit too realistic, lacking the abstract, game-like feel I was aiming for. At that point, I considered whether I should change the design.

However, Mr. Kanan's feedback was to not change the design because the sketches I provided were too simple. He suggested using my current design as the base and modifying it until I was satisfied.

So, I decided to stick with it. However, unfortunately, because I was busy with other subjects, I didn’t have enough time to properly refine the details. As a result, I’m not completely satisfied with the final product. I hope I can revisit it in the future and improve it further.

Reflection

I think designing environments is incredibly challenging—I really gave it my best. I'll continue to work hard next time. I feel that I'm not very good at environmental design, but I also think it's an essential skill that I need to master. So, whenever I have the time, I'll practice more and refine my techniques.
